Im having my first forray into overclocking on an wolfdale c2d, e8200 working my way through this guide http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1198647 i've got it to post running 3.2 ghz with a multipler of 8 and fsb of 400. it boots happily into linux mint, but running the large test on prime 95 (well mprime as its linux) within first couple of tests the second core has a rounding error though first core is fine. I think this is probably the point where I need to start tweaking the vcore voltage, however im not 100% sure which is the correct option in the bios, (googling around hasn't really clarified things too much) im using an asus p5kpl-se and the voltage related options i have are:

1.30 Over voltage: Auto, 1.30v, 1.35v, 1.40v, 1.45v (MCH chipset voltage)

VTT_CPU Overvoltage: Auto, 1.2v, 1.3v (FSB Termination voltage)

1.50 Over voltage: Auto, 1.50v, 1.60v (ICH chipset voltage)

VCore Overvoltage: Auto, +50mv, +100mv, +150mv

all of the above are currently set to auto.

When running mprime, vcore voltage tends to be 1.22-1.23v bios after post say's 1.25v.

As there's no option to set a specific vcore voltage im slightly confused, according to intel ark http://ark.intel.com/m/products/33909/Intel-Core2-Duo-Processor-E8200-6M-Cache-2_66-GHz-1333-MHz-FSB#@product/specifications vid range tops out around 1.36v

So which option do i select to change vcore voltage to get stability or should i back off the fsb a little,

heh while I was typing this i was runningmemtest86, and its thrown an error, with the current overclocked settings, the timing's are tighter when mnaually dialing them in versus the automatically determined timings before overclocking, 4-4-4-12 now versus 5-5-5-18 non-overclocked. (i don't think it happened when not overclocked but i might have to go back and check)

So any advice appreciated.

Well if the voltage was set automatically, I would back off the multipier a bit until it is stable as high as you can get it, then increase the voltage with it. Sorry I can't be of more help, hopefully an OC veteran will come to the rescue lol
