How can I make this build cheaper

rbot1s

Budget (including currency): $1000 - $1100 USD Maybe $1200 but preferrably less

Country: United States

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Video games, coding, and general work.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Right now I have a Lenovo Ideapad 330 laptop

Cpu: Preferred: Ryzen 7 3700x Other: Ryzen 5 3600/3600x

Motherboard: Prefferably a b550 with a usb type c cable not a b540.

Graphics Card: Preferrably: 2070 or 3070(when it comes out) or a 2060

RAM: Corsair Vengeance rgb pro 16gb (2: 8 sticks)

SSD: Curcial P1 M.2 1Tb or 500gb Note: I just want a fast one that can load things very fast.

PSU: Preffered: Corsair 650w Other: Corsair 550w

Case: Nzxt H510i

Windows 10

Notes: I want something that can run games at around 240 fps and at least 1080p (maybe 1440p) and I want it to have rgb lighting and look nice as well. This budget doesn't include a monitor, a keyboard, or a mouse.

550w is enough. Must wait for 3070. 3600 will do. b450 is cheaper and will do.

A 3070 is ~$500. You can get a better performing build for the price, but I tried to stay within your guidelines.

My suggestion

Throw in the 3070 for $500 and you have an excellent gaming system. Obviously check requirements when reviews come out, but 550W should be plenty.

P400A has much better airflow than the H510. Only get the H510 if you really love the aesthetics, and know that it will run hotter.

Hope this helps :)

is it better to invest in a ryzen 7

Unless you have a very multicore heavy workload, then probably not. Certainly not worth it for gaming. If you want to invest in the CPU more, it may be worth waiting for Zen3, although that will be a few months at least. (you have to wait for the 3070 anyway so it may be worth is)

Can I just toss out the B550M aorus Elite at 119 dollars as a motherboard alternative. That board at it's price is pretty damn good, just like how the x570 aorus Elite offers a LOT of value at its price point for x570. It seems to be bloated in price on newegg right now though.

Also should I get a ryzen 3600 or 3600x cause I heard the stock cooler for the 3600 is pretty bad.
