Is it ok for me to use my laptop while on charge? Also is it ok to continue to use the laptop on charge while the battery is at 100%

I want to try gaming on my laptop, but for the best results I want to put it in performance mode and i have to keep it plunged in for that. I know that since it tells me that it needs to be plunged in for this mode to work it should be fine, im just asking the question because i might end up using it to play these games for hours straight if not all day.

My laptop is HP Spectre x360 - 13-aw0115na just in case that makes any difference to how it will be effected by this use case.

Also one more thing. If the fans are spinning quite fast for this length of time, is that bad for them or the laptop, I know that it will reduce the life cycle of the fans but how long would their life be if I used them like this.

Hopefully this post makes sense. 😅

Thank you for your help, its greatly appreciated.

You're fine using it plugged in, lots of people do that. It might shorten the battery lifespan a bit but I doubt it.

I'd be more concerned with the damage extra heat might do to the laptop, than any potential damage to the fans.

If you're worried then get a cheap external cooling pad such as this. It has fans to move hot air away from the laptop so the laptop's fans have to do less work and the laptop doesn't get as hot. It's obviously no substitute for "proper" cooling but it does help a bit.

Thanks for reading all this by the way!

By the way, my desktop is a docked laptop. Get over it, No seriously, I have an exterrnal monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, ethernet and cooling fans all connected. Using it feels no different to a desktop, it works for several hours if the power goes out, and disconnecting just a few cables gives me something I can take on the go. There's enough power for all games I play and it even copes with basic (and some not-so-basic) video editing. Give it a go - you might just love it.

Using while plugging the laptop is the preferred mode for most of power users, as you will get more performance using it through the wall.

Most laptop with lithium ion battery will have an overcharging limiter, so it won't blow up.

For the fans, the only thing that fans hate the most is dust, clear that and it will run for a long time.

There's no lifetime for fans if there's nothing burned inside (working at a constant voltage rating).

So using my laptop plugged the vast majority of the time wont damage my battery?
