Hello, whats the best RAM kit for ryzen 5 3600x ddr4 3600cl 16 and ddr4 4000 CL 18? Mother board ASUS TUF b550 gaming plus

 

These 2 kits are exactly same price..

 

G.SKILL Trident Z 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4-4000MHz CL18

 

and 

 

G.SKILL Trident Z Neo RGB 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4-3600MHz CL16

 

wich One ia best ?

I'd get the 3600MHz kit because you probably won't be able to run the infinity fabric at 2000MHz to get the 1:1 ratio with the 4000MHz ram.

3600 cl16, because even if you managed to get to 2000 on the FCLK. You'll run it at 2:1 which does have latency penalties and 3600 is the sweet spot for zen 2 and should do the job.

If you just want to turn on XMP and leave it, the 3600MHz CL16 kit. 
 

If you want to get into memory overclocking, the 4000MHz CL18. Can probably get 3733MHz CL14 at 1.5v.

You'd have to run the 4000Mhz kit at a lower speed to get the best performance.

 

And the 3600Mhz kit has better true latency.

3600Mhz is the sweet spot for Zen 2, due to the infinity fabric (FCLK). The FCLK should match the actual frequency of your RAM (which is half the advertised frequency, because DDR is double date rate)

 

The FCLK only goes up to 1800Mhz stock. It can usually be overclocked to 1900Mhz, or maybe something like 1933Mhz, depending on the chip, but 2000Mhz is not going to happen. As such, you'd either have to downclock the 4000Mhz kit to 3800Mhz or so, depending on how high you can get the FCLK, or run at 2:1, which will drastically reduce your performance.

 

You honestly won't really notice the difference between 3600Mhz and 3800Mhz, probably not even 4000Mhz, so it's just easier and more fool-proof to just go with 3600Mhz, and call it a day.

I went with Trident z neo 2*8gb 3600mhz CL 16  with16-16-16-36 latency ir should arrive this week.
