Issues with Ethernet runs?

Go to solution Solved by Ja_Marcus21,

So the crimps to the connectors were at fault, I cut and reinstalled the cables to the ethernet port connectors, and now the ethernet speeds are phenomenal. Thanks for the help!

Recently my family upgraded our internet speeds with Spectrum from 100Mbps down and 15Mbps up, to the 1Gbps package they offer. Which i didn't think could be done for one through a Coaxial cable, but nonetheless, through this upgrade our ethernet cables to me and my sisters room which is ran through the attic then to our ethernet ports in the walls has finally shed some light on the issues that weren't so significant before.

The speeds I have tested get around 80Mbps through the wall outlets, compared to directly plugged into the Router which is getting about 935 Mbps down.

What I am trying to find out is what is causing this 75% loss from the coming out the router to the wall outlets we have?

Through the attic I have a CAT 6 cable which is UTP, running about say 100ft (each run from the router wall port, to the room wall ports).

What is causing this huge drop in speed? Is it the fact that it's UTP ?

I wanted to find a root problem before spend some more money on some U/FTP or F/UTP CAT 6 cable?

I know that after 100 meters (about 328 ft) it drops speeds dramatically.

The way i have the network set up since our Netgear Nighthawk X6S AC4000 Tri-Band Router only has 4 Gigabit ethernet ports

Router Port 1 -> Managed Gigabit Ethernet Switch -> My Room

                                                                                  -> Sisters Room

Port 2-4 -> Other devices that are irrelevant to this issue.

What I am trying to find out is what is causing the major issue with this internet speed drop before I invest in some better ethernet cable.

Thanks for your time!

Forgot to mention that my apologies , I get about the same 910 Mbps down

First thing I would check is her machine. Make sure it has Gigabit, most likely it does and see if you can force it. Try another device on her port. There very well could be a damaged cable. Keep in mind that only 4 wires are needed for 100 Mbps, which might explain your speed issue.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

Well both our machines are gigabit compatible, I've even tried my laptop which is gigabit compatible as well. Still the same issue happening. Both our ports are getting a dramatic loss of speed which is sufficient, but not utilizing what we are paying for.

910 at the switch and then on the 100' foot run to your outlet, does it plug into the back of the outlet or is it wired in?

They are plugged into the back of the outlet, then allows another ethernet cable to connect to the female connector on the wall plate

Sounds like the cable is the issue, or the port is not wired correctly. Id start there, if able rewire the port. If all else fails replace the cable.

I think he is using those outlets where you do not have to wire it in.  He may also have the ends that he crimped on himself since he put in the wire himself or maybe they came that way  Multiple points of possible failure

what is the speed

So the outlets i had to manually crimp the ethernet port connector onto the cable, then connect it to a wall plate. The speeds I am getting are less then 100 Mbps on me and my sisters ports, which could be in fault that the connections to the port connector aren't good at all, but i will double check

that is probably where your problem is.   I would still see what the laptop is getting connected to your manually crimped cat cable.
