Temperature problem

My old pc got temperature hikes from 65 to 100 degrees Celsius.Cleaned the cpu cooler put it back in without cleaning the thermal paste and now it shows 100 degrees.should i reapply new thermal paste?or is it another problem with fans?

Pc specs:pentium e5700,stock cooler

yes, every time you take the cpu cooler off, you need to clean it and re-apply paste when you install it back on the cpu.

So the prblm is thermal paste?

Probably. You will be sure after adding new paste.

any decent  paste will do
