CPU automatically underclocking-3600xt

Go to solution Solved by Seaquest,

Seemed to figure it out guys, and my chip was undervolted at 1.1 volts while being overclocked to 4.1 on all cores (Maximum speed with this setup). This dropped fps by around 10-15 in games and was really bugging me. I reset bios settings and it boosts up to 4.5-4.6 and the voltage fluctuates as the clock speed goes up implying that its returned to stock settings with temps during load never reaching above 65. My theory is that one of the programs I have have downloaded may have automatically overclocked my chip and thus slowed the performance but a simple bios to default fixed it. Thanks for the help!

So recently I've noticed that my Cpu's maximum clock speed has been lowered from 4.6ghz as advertised to 4.1ghz (seen on Ryzen Master and CPU-Z). I haven't touched any overclocking settings or installed any other programs that would mess with my processor other than AI Suite 3. I updated my chipset drivers as that may have been causing an issue but that didn't do anything. I decided to reset the settings through Ryzen Master and it brought me back to my advertised 4.6ghz maximum speed and temps while idle stayed between 40-45 with a corsair h100i pro xt. However, my computer just shut down instantly about a minute after that even though temps were stable. I'm not sure whats happening and everything was running fine about a week ago so would anyone have an idea of what is going on?

Maximum boost clock on a stock 3600xt is 4.5Ghz, and that's only the max for a single-core load. Base clock is 3.8Ghz. Hovering around 4.1Ghz sounds normal to me. What are your load temps?

@Kid.Lazer

Well this is something new I found, while running cinebench r20, my temps on ryzen master jump to 83 which I have never seen my cpu go to before. Usually my load temps have never gone above 70. Could this indicate a faulty pump? And also on cinebench r20, it shows my 3600xt clocked at 4.1ghz if that means anything. Im not sure if that means the base or the maximum. I remember about a week or two ago, it showed it clocked at 4.6ghz.

A 95 watt cpu such as the 3600xt running stock under a 240mm AIO should be nowhere near that hot. Something is wrong with your cooling setup. Whether it's your thermal interface, mounting pressure, failing pump, poor case fan placement, or something else I couldn't say for sure.

Another cause could be a misconfigured BIOS. Even if running at stock speeds, your voltage could be too high. What does Ryzen master report when under load?
