So I'm just wondering because if I set it to "prefer max performance" it works pretty well and gives me the most fps. But the GPU never seems to downclock fully and will always hover around 40/41C while idling even when no program is running, which is very annoying as all my fans spin constantly then and I also cannot lower them because then the GPU will just keep getting hotter lol!

Basically I have the perfect balance in my cooling setup IF the GPU properly downclocks while idle, otherwise everything goes to shit.

If I set it to "adaptive" I seem to get a few more drops here and there,  but it properly downclocks while idle. So not ideal either.

If I set it to the default my frames are really bad so that is not an option.

Ok and now my question is, why does the GPU never downclock properly when set to "max performance" and is that really continually and never changes or is there a set time frame after it eventually downclocks normally?

Setting the gpu to perfer maximum performance will never down clock the gpu giving maximum performance. did you try optimized mode?

Well it actually does downclock while idle just not fully,  it's at around 1200MHz iirc,  and that doesn't really make sense, I suppose it's some limitation in the driver so it's easier to get to full boost or something.

I just thought maybe it would downclock more after a few hours or so... Haven't tested that,  and probably won't.
