Temp upgrade

Go to solution Solved by ForsakenLive,

Seems like a solid upgrade, price is ok and the parts are too.

Hello,

At the moment I own the following PC components:

  • CPU: Intel Core2Quad Q8300
  • RAM: 4GB DDR2 @ 800MHz
  • GPU: Sapphire Radeon HD 7850 2GB
  • PSU: Sirtec - High Power Element BRONZE 500W
  • SSD: Kingston 60GB SATA-III 2.5 inch V300 SSDNow
  • HDD: 2x 500GB WD Blue @ 7200RPM
  • 2x 1080p displays (the secondary is only for programming, stats, usage etc)

I have this CPU since release, so ~ 6 years, it did it's job well 'till now, but the system is starting to fall behind, the main problem would be the RAMs I guess.

Anyways, I have some money to spend, however, not as much as I would want, not yet. But I was wondering, would a temporary upgrade be worth it? This(1.106,42RON = ~338USD) one to be more specific. My budget for this upgrade is exactly that, 340USD.

What I mean by temporary? I'm not sure, somewhere around one and a half years probably, after that I'm planning on buying a i7 which I'm planning to keep for another 4-6years.

The purpose and usage of the system is nothing extreme. Permanently running a virtualbox for a webserver (development only, the usage isn't big but still worth mentioning I guess), compiling and gaming (MMORPGs mostly), this ones would be the heaviest of the tasks I guess.

Sorry if I made any grammatical, phrasing etc mistakes, my native language isn't English.
