I am swapping my motherboard and CPU from intel to AMD, but only those two components.

All youtubers seem to have different answers and recommendations, but is there a definitive set of rules and to-do’s when carrying over the same SSD and hard-drive from a previous mobo/cpu to a new one?

For reference:

Switching TO: Ryzen 7 3700x + msi tomahawk b450 max

FROM: i5-8400 + msi b350m bazooka

Make an OS install disk and do necessary backups before you move anything since the old OS install may not work properly with the new hardware.

May need a cpu cooler as well.

So what's your actual question?

Windows will probably be fine, but I'd say it would still be a good idea to reinstall it

How do I do that? With a thumb drive and making a reinstall download for the bios?

Just put windows on a usb stick, boot from usb stick.

You can make the usb stick with a tool microsoft provides for free.. Download Windows USB/DVD Download Tool from Official Microsoft Download Center

Has nothing to do with bios, the only thing you'd have to do is to select the usb stick as boot device instead of hard drive (which you may be able to do by pressing a key ex F8 when you start the pc and not even go into bios)
