PC won't power on

I have had my rig for about 2 years and decided to upgrade my cpu from a i5 7400 to an i5 9600kf, after i installed it my pc wouldn't turn on no matter what i tried, so i bought a new 600w psu from cooler master.

still nothing, tried jumpstarting again, nothing. if i unplug just the 24 pin from motherboard and use the paper clip test the pcu powers on and the fan spins, however when connected to my motherboard the motherboard lights startup and the PWR LED is green however it still doesn't work.

please could someone assist me.

Which motherboard is it?

Chipsets work for specific CPU series. Maybe your chipset is too old to support the 9600.

I dont think z270 supports the 9600. You can google the chipset to see compatible products.

You need a motherboard with 300 chipset.

yeah i just googled it and they arent compatible, i just bought a new psu and now i need a new motherboard great.
