First time posting.

I recently had catastrophic melt down of an alienware 15 and gtx 1080 in the graphics amp.

I don't trust alienware to replace the setup and I don't have the funding. So I want to try something different and unique.

Is there a motherboard that can be installed into the alienware graphics amp case making it a full fledged moderate gaming pc?

Pretty much not possible. Your best bet is to just get a desktop and plop the gtx1080 in there.

What happened to the laptop and gpu? We might be able to help you fix it. The graphics amp is just an egpu box so I don’t see what it could have broken too badly.

I am far from an expert in this so please correct me if I’m wrong.

Well, I was unaware one of my kids moved the amp that was on my desk and the graphics card came partially out of the socket, after turning on the system, no post to the laptop, and no video from my video card. I did remove the graphics card from the amp and tried in a desktop and that machine would not post. My alienware laptop would not post even when standing alone. I have contacted dell and even sent it to a local service center and was advised it would need a motherboard replacement. so I sold both as parts. I still have the graphics amp and just wanted to see what I could do with it aside from making it an over sized raspberry pie case.

With serious case modding, you might be able to take out what you don’t need that’s in there and for a mini itx (maybe itx) system in there. It’s likely not worth it over just getting a new case though.
