Budget (including currency): $1,600 AUD build, looking for get the parts from my local PLE store here in Perth.

Country: Perth,  Australia

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Looking to build from scratch, though have a monitor, keyboard and trackball which I currently use in combination with my laptop.

- I want to be able to play the latest FPS games, though have World of Tanks, Escape from Tarkov etc. Will look to get a second monitor down the track which is gamer focused, though at this stage will be using my Lenovo E24 screen.

- Will be using the PC for work as well, though no programs that are as taxing as the games.

- I will need a windows licence

- Needs to be WiFi as I won't be able to connect to the network via a cable.

- The PC will be sitting under my desk so the case doesn't need to be flashy nor do I need any of the lights to make it all fancy as they will go unseen.

- Would like M.2 SSD drive, nothing over 500gig though. Won't need a secondary drive as I have multiple external drives.

Cheers

if your not willing to wait till new gpu's are released you could go an i5 10400F with a 1660 super or 5600XT (this was done kinda quickly)

https://www.ple.com.au/wishlist/2d4317d8-6e2e-449a-a71b-8ebd953e55d4

then the 1660

https://www.ple.com.au/Products/638028/MSI-GeForce-GTX1660-Super-Gaming-X-6GB-GDDR6

then the 5600xt

https://www.ple.com.au/Products/639098/XFX-Radeon-RX-5600-XT-THICC-II-Pro-6GB-GDDR6

either will keep you at or just below your target price, some things could be lowered a bit so you had more to spend on a gpu if needed like the m.2 ssd or the 4tb hdd, or even going to an older gen cpu or amd (im not that knowledgeable on what amd cpu's go with the motherboards so i went with an i5 system)

Would you be willing to wait 2-3months? New GPUs will be dropping sometime in October according to most speculations.

I would like to get the system in the next week or two as my little old laptop is starting to pack it in.

I will recommend an NHu12s (or an NHd15 (maybe)) for your PC build. Quote or @ me @Prodigy_Smit for me to see your replies.

Unfortunately this build while decently priced in the U.S. would costs almost 2k in Australia.

I played around a lot with pricing and filters but could not find a way to fit a 2070 SUPER into your build without going over budget. (budget usually was hit before I could add SSD and windows) Not having a 2070 SUPER vs a regular 2070 is not a big deal if your only playing at 1080p or 1440p.

I tried seeing if the local parts store you mentioned had anything decent but everything is overpriced, and they also went ahead and binned all their CPUs, so you end up paying for whatever clock speed you want to be guaranteed. It just doesn't make sense at your budget to overpay for a binned CPU.

For windows I suggest you look around at 3rd party sellers to make sure it fits your budget (home will be cheaper but not sure if you need what pro has for your work). OEM's will also be much cheaper however the key is locked to your motherboard, but unless you plan to upgrade your motherboard relatively soon this should not become an issue. Just make sure the key can be activated in your country. (not sure if your country would have issues, I think its more like Russia/China that could have problems)

If your unable to still keep it within the budget you could go for the slightly cheaper 2060 SUPER models using the price sorter on PcPartPicker.

If you can only get 2070, get a 2060 super, it’s almost same perf. For lower price

edit I saw where you said that now

Thank you,

Always know we pay to much, I never knew that Binning was a thing. Have learnt something new today.

I have put together a list of what I think might do the job with my budget from PLE. There are other computer stores around but none really have a website I can build from and haven't been helpful when I have gone in. As to buying the parts online, I am wanting to avoid this due to the Covid etc, as shipping times have blown out to weeks and want to get all the parts in one spot just in case something goes wrong.

Below is what I have put together with from PLE, if you think it is passable I will then take the list and shop around with it.

Thank you again for your time and help :)

The MSI B450M Mortar MAX is a better board for $30 more.

That Ram is way too slow for Ryzen. You want 3000MHz or above with decent timings i.e CL16.

Swap out the SSD to the WD Blue SN550 as the Green isn't that great.

You can save money on W10 if you are fine buying a cheap key from places that sell game keys.
