my mouse doesnt wake pc

mouse used to wake pc but now it doesnt. i changed settings in device manager. problem still persists. keyboard wakes pc.

That's actually how it's supposed to be.

I still don't understand using sleep mode as opposed to leaving the system running, or shutting it off.

Because it's not using power then and when starting it up again all is still open as you left it.
