I put the ram sticks in a1 and b1 instead of a2 and b2 and it works fine but was wondering if it affects performance for infinity fabric the xmp profile is still enabled to 3600 with my 3900x

Do what the motherboard manual recommends. I'm not sure why you would do anything different.

 

If it works despite the fact it's done incorrectly: neato. Still would fix it though
