Reported reaction times can vary when using a mouse or keyboard due to polling loops and the electronics in the keyboard or mouse. This means the timing error between pressing a key or button can be anywhere from 5 milliseconds to well over 100 milliseconds.

TL;DR: The time it takes for your computer to recognize that you pressed a mouse button.

I would assume it's the time from when you click the button until something happens. First time I heard you can configure it.

Maybe if you're used to a specific input lag, artificially increasing it might make some sense (for professional gamers).

Seems like this time i was faster, ha! :P

There are actually many mice out there where you can configure the response time. And afaik, there even is a windows setting that makes your control the response time. But i never heard of people using that to increase it rather than to decrease it :'D

But why add a setting to decrease it instead of simply running as fast as possible out of the box?

I guess it has some tradeoff? Didn't know there was a Windows setting for it, but then I'm not a competitive gamer.

Because it could cause double clicks to happen at very low response. Especially for most that may not be as fast to click-to-let-go could cause issues.
