New mobile Firefox

Anyone else using Firefox on mobile? Just updated to new version and IT.IS.BAD.

 

Sure dark theme is nice, but that's it. Icons for quick links are tiny and there's something called "Collections" taking majority of the space. I didn't find way to customize it out. Yet. Also had to rebind them all which sucks. And still can't choose which order they are.

 

Second annoyance is the way tabs work. Opening tab menu only covers half of the screen and button for new tab is located at bottom. This might work if you choose to use navigation bar as bottom, but i've lost the way to quickly open new tabs.

 

Third is the animation of the navigation bar. Might be just forums, but it feels very lagging. Which is confusing as the overall performance seems to be better.

Got couple more. New tabs open top. Like why? Desktop opens them last, previous mobile opened them last. Why change that? And if there's change, why not leave it as option. I prefer Firefox because of customization, this is not it.

 

Minor thing is how alt-menu opens. Meaning the thing you get with long press over links. It opens one row too low, making whole page jump a bit every time.

 

I really hope they fix things fast, or I need to look for new browser.

what version of firefox ? beta ? focus ?or nightly? i run nightly as a backup on note 9 and no lagging issue for me. i do  use edge as main though, as much as people want to hate on it for its history, edge chromium canary has replaced my main browser choice on all devices. so give it a try.

As much as I hate Google for constantly messing with Chrome on Android, I can't for the life of me get used to Firefox.

So latest update from Play store. I have certain needs, like ability to overwrite zoom locks and font restrictions. Which is why I initially chose FF mobile over Chrome and Opera.

just checked on edge beta (45.07.24.5053) on android 10, force zoom is available, so is immersive reading. there is also a text font size slider, how ever no custom fonts though.

under edge://flags there is only [ experimental web platform features] . but one thing though, edge has some built-in plugins like adblock, newsguard  and honey, but no chrome webstore yet, like chrome. but the ui is infinitely better than both firefox and chrome.

34 tabs open the same as edge, no issues. so i dont know. maybe a website you have open is mining your cpu or wait for an update.

Might just try alternatives too.
