I think it is very odd Google didn't officially release on pv. I would be cool to build a small pc to sit under the TV for a DIY Android tv box.

Here's a hint: because it's absurd to put Android on an x86 machine unless you're really just wanting to dick around or if you have a tablet.

You want a powerful Android device, look into an Nvidia Shield. Solved the portability problem while also being way quieter and cheaper.

It's mostly because Intel pulled out support of android-x86 - the drivers needed for it are long gone. There was a project called Android-IA that intel suddenly dropped support for no reason. I believe this was during the Android 5.1 days.

Anyway some people (mainly one guy) pushed through with Android-x86. There are a few distros that come and go over the years, like Remix OS, Phoenix OS, Bliss OS. The latter is pretty regularly updated.

Official version is still Android-x86 9.0 Pie
