NES Green Screen

I bought a new pin connector for an old nes and now when I turn it on I usally get a blinking red light which I can fix by turning the console off and on and hitting the reset button. The problem when I get the light to stop blinking all I get on the screen is green. How do I fix this? Also it is really hard to get the cartridge out

The green screen is when the cart hasn't made a proper connection. The cart may be dirty, or the new connector maybe faulty.

It also sounds like the new connector is too tight. You should try to bend the pins more open in case it damages the cart.

The NES is a finicky bastard, it was even when reasonably new, it will require a fair bit of trail and error adjustment of the pins. Also take a look at the capacitors to check none have blown. If they have you'll need to get the soldering iron out, or entrust the job to someone competent. Clean all contacts with electrical contact cleaner, including the PCB that plugs into the back of the connector. I'd also clean the cart with electrical contact cleaner.

Electrical contact cleaner in case you're unfamiliar is pitched at the automotive market, but will obviously work on any electrical contacts and is designed to not damage plastic. It has cleaned carts for me that 99% Isopropanol couldn't, and it resurrected my original NES connector with the aid of a tooth brush and a sewing needle to bend the pins back into position. I swear by the stuff for both old consoles/games and old cars.
