cloning windows server 2016

dose anyone know the best way to clone windows server 2016 os install as a home user and not as a company and the subsequent costly licences to go with it.

its used as a home sever for storage plex and game servers time for time

You can do SMB, Plex & run Game Servers from Windows 10. Server is entirely unnecessary. Get a cheap 10 Pro key.

You can clone it, but it won't clone the license, the license is tied to the hardware normally

 

Also if you clone windows, you want to sysprep it.

im just swapping os drives out for bigger ones.the 120gb ssds are abit too small these days.would the licence stay active?

the license should be fine then. Id clone with some dd, but you can use programs like macrum reflect aswell.

 

Also look into moving to vms, makes managing this much easier.
