There seems to be a strange issue where games don't really run that great while there is still a ton of performance available.

I experience this problem in multiple games, for example The Sims 4 (See picture).

I'm playing a large household on a large lot with a lot of items, so the performance should be quite low compared to other places with average framerates.

But my PC only manages to reach 20FPS while my graphics card is utilized only about 9% and my CPU is utilized for around 30 to 50%.

Question is, why is my framerate so low while half or even more than half of the available performance is up for grabs?

I know it is a normal occurrence for games to not be able to make use of everything your PC has to offer when framerates are already high but doesn't this seem a little extreme? The fact that my framerate is so low really seems fishy. I'm convinced it should be able to reach high enough framerates with so much power left. I have a quite powerful PC with an rtx 2070 super in it.

I also have 16GB of memory so my PC being out of memory also shouldn't be an issue

badly coded games are mostly the reason in these cases

or you have a fps cap/buggy driver somewhere

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

I've always felt like The Sims 4 was an unstable game. But when I see other people playing they don't seem to be having the same issues and I also don't hear the community complain about it.

I've disabled vsync and made sure that nvidia control panel and afterburner weren't limiting framerates in any way.
