High ping in games

Pretty much, yes. The speed of your connection has pretty much zero influence on ping.

Ping is primarily about physical distance between you and the server (and the number of hops packets have to go through). It gives you a measure of how long it takes a packet to go to the other end and come back, not how much data it can carry. You can't really change anything about that, since you can't decide on the route a packet takes.

Depends where the servers are etc. The connection is only as fast as the slowest link and just because you have 2ms to the closest exchange doesn’t mean that exchange has a fast connection to the server you’re trying to access.

The servers are located in Germany.

Yeah but it depends on how everything’s connected. For example if I connect to a server in America through entirely fibre op and state of the art networking equipment it will be faster than connecting to a server  in Scotland through Coaxial even though I’m connected to the same exchange for both. If at some point between you and the server the connection is slow your ping will tank.

So, this issue is clearly out of hands?

You have a great connection to the exchange so I don’t really think there is. What NAT type have you got? Also which game is it after a few years I wouldn’t be surprised if they cut back on server locations

I dunno what's my NAT type. The game in the previous screenshot is BATTLEFIELD 1, which is still supported due to the bad reputation of BATTLEFIELD 5.
