Amazon returns

I'm gonna ask some theoretical questions- which do not show any intent!

Lets say I ordered a motherboard from amazon, had some minor technical difficulties with it and decided to see if they would send me a replacement(rather than an exchange- they have done this with a keyboard for me in the past).They refused, and said that I must do an exchange, but would post my replacement first, giving me time to swap them. So thats great- but (theoretically) I have spent a lot of time on cable management etc, and don't really want to bother pulling out my mobo yet. What do you think amazon would do if I didn't send the old motherboard back? 

 

Just to say- not trying to be an asshole to Amazon here, but the work required to replace the motherboard in the system is a couple of hours and I don't like being without my PC. And given their history of not caring/

Might make another thread asking about the problem- was static noise on my speakers when Pc turned off.

Also to mention they wouldent bill you straight away , it will probably come as a shock to you in lets say 6 months

They get the old one back so they can refurbish it, and sell it again.

Like I said- they've done it with a keyboard in the past. Although that time it was their idea , not mine

Well of they figure it out it only takes them a click on their command computer to send a bill your way. And launch your wallet in the amazon.

Yes, although I've known people who would tell Amazon that they have gotten the wrong item sent to them so they can get their money back, technically you could order a new board, give them a call saying you got the wrong board sent to you and send your old one back while getting your money back. I wouldn't do personally but i know people where this works constantly for them if Amazon feels they have to be an Ahole about it. It's technically stealing but eh.

If you have to take it out and swap it anyway what is the problem? Just have them mail your replacement first? Amazons customer service is pretty amazing so I dont know why you think they wouldnt care?

I did ask, and they won't let me keep the old board. They've always been great to me too- I guess I was just trying to take advantage of that.
