REALLY low FPS in Minecraft with Shaders (1080 Ti)

HotdogVanDriver

So I'll start with my specs:

  • 1080 Ti
  • i7 7700K
  • 32GB Ram
  • 4k Monitor

I love how shaders look in Minecraft, but I've never got more than 30FPS, but sit around 20FPS. So basically I ended up using it for pretty screenshots and not much else. I put it down to that it was because I was playing at 4k. But then I saw this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_W6mMDEJ4U and know that it's perfectly possible. So not sure why I'm not getting any higher.

What I've tried:

  • Allocating more RAM to Minecraft (Went from 8GB to 16GB)
  • Updating Java to latest version
  • Updating graphics card drivers
  • Installing Optifine
  • Trying different shader packs

Any ideas?

I honestly doubt he's running it at 4k and never opens F3 console to actually confirm suspicions..

I agree with @Br3tt96, i highly doubt he's actually running at 4K.

Your comments did make me look for more videos and this guy with a 1080 Ti and 4K Ultrawide https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ixQzIh-0Sk only got about 10 FPS more that me, sitting at 30-40FPS, so yeah I think you're both right.

First comment on the video is "i have a 1080 TI with a better setup than this using SEUS 10 and a realistic resourcepack similar to this one and im getting around 20 to 30 fps."

Weird that even if I run the game at 1080p that I still get around the same 20-30 FPS though.

Damn I was really hoping there was something wrong and that I was meant to be getting at least 60 haha. Oh well. Thanks for your help!
