Hi everyone.

When I import my After Effects motion graphics to Premiere, I noticed that process uses 2 threads only.

So I tried importing that with hyperthread off and it saves me about 20-30% time in average. (the process below gives the result above.... 2 thread import)

However, final export render is a bit slower with hyperthread off for obvious reasons.

My overall work seems to benefit a little, almost no difference, from disabling hyperthread.

This is just way it feels, no real quantitative value can be given because I can't click at the same speed or use same effect the same way every time.

But it kind of makes sense because a lot of the effects I favors single thread performance (also one of the reasons why I don't use AMD workstation).

My main CPU is 10940X but I've tested on i7 7800X and  Xeon 1230v2 as well (similar result).

I can't figure out how to disable smt on my R3 3200g and R5 1600.....  (I have really bad mobo; I blame that)

Can anyone also test if disabling their hyperthread actually boost single thread that much?

It would be nice to have more data on this.

use a program like process lasso and set the core affinity to avoid hyperthread

thats what people that play bdo use to boost game fps and yes it made me gain 40 fps when i had an i7 4770 i havent really played with smt on with my 3600 but i can test later
