If all else fails it's time to head up to a local PC repair shop for diagnosis.

The local repair shops here are FAR less competent then I am. They probably even don't have threadripper cpu/boards to test with.
I've been working as an IT consultant for the last 15 years and have plenty of builds behind me. So, I don't have anyone close by that are experienced enough to support me with this.
Hence, LTT forum to the rescue. :P

@johnkristian It looks like people are not reading the entire thread, and just going to the last page, and reading the last 3 or 4 updates....sorry about that.

(Reminds me of the new student staffs / consultants when I worked for Systems / IT team at my University a few years back...literally senior / full-time staffs cleaning up after them, and apologizing to clients)

I was just trying to see all the Q-Codes coming up on the little LED output screen.

See how far that goes, or which debug code it stops at?

Also check the Q-LEDs (e.g. CPU / DRAM / VGA / Boot / HDD).

Does it get stuck on any of those?

Also check if 'Slow Mode' or 'LN2 Mode' are accidentally enabled.

There is are 'LN2 Mode' pins / jumper.

'Slow Mode' should be a physical toggle switch near the bottom of the board -- should be OFF.

'RSVD Switch' should be in the OFF position...

Are you able to make it into BIOS at all?

If you *CAN* I'd check everything over in there first (e.g. BIOS version, CPU info, DRAM info / settings, etc).

Oh, this board has two BIOS chips, double check to see which one it's using / loading.

Check BIOS_LED1 and BIOS_LED2 indicators.

Is it trying to load the 1st BIOS, "fails", and switches to the 2nd BIOS?

Yeah... heheh.

Been there, done that. :P

It stops at "post error". Right before that, it hangs a bit on HDD code 02, but I don't think this has anything to do with it, I don't have any drives connected. It doesn't change if I connect a drive either, so I think it's just the last code it shows before giving the "post error" code.
If I pull out all the ram, it STOPS on a memory code, and if my understanding of post codes are right, a code that shows up a bit longer than the others, ain't the issue, it's the code it -stops- on. Right?

Also check the Q-LEDs (e.g. CPU / DRAM / VGA / Boot / HDD).

Does it get stuck on any of those?

Yeah, like I mentioned, I forgot to check that. I don't have a power supply handy before tomorrow, so I'll check that closer then.

Checked all that. All switches are at their default / recommended position.

No, not at all. I don't get anything on the screen. (I've tried with both a GTX 1060 card and a Quadro NVS card).

Tried that. I have also flashed BIOS 2 with the latest version via the flashback function, and booted from that. No difference.

OK.
So my neighbour came over with his PSU again, so I got to check the QLEDS.
It shows green on boot when the onboard display shows "post error" ... and that doesn't make any sense in my head.

This time I ran it outside the case, on an antistatic mat. So now I've tried -everything-.
Still waiting for asus support before I RMA the card.

Anyone got any other tips?

There is something wrong with your boot drive.

QLED and debug screen shows exactly that.

Does your SSD / HDD / M.2 (what ever you have) show up in the BIOS?

It's either not detecting a storage device and/or no storage device with an OS found -- let it be a Windows or Linux, etc.

If you HAVE a drive with an OS on it, it could be corrupt.

Do ANYONE read what i write?
I have no boot drive. You should neither fcking need a boot drive for a board to post! What you're writing DOES NOT MAKE ANY SENSE AT ALL.
I have also tried with a drive connected, without any change.
And for the 15 time, I CAN'T GET INTO BIOS SINCE THE BOARD WON'T POST.
Please fcking read before you post.

You should be able to access BIOS without a boot drive, but the motherboard is already going beyond that, and looking for a boot drive.

The Q-LEDs are passing CPU, DRAM, and VGA self test, and then gets stuck on the HDD / Boot test.

It would only go and check the HDD / Boot device it's is trying to boot into the OS, so it's going pass that point where you should be able to access the BIOS at the very least.

Reviewing your latest video clip again, the white LED (VGA) does stay emitted for a fairly long time -- for nearly 24 seconds.

I would suspect something could be wrong with the GPU.

Usually, if the system is working properly, having owned 3x ROG boards, it should flash through all those LEDs in a matter of a few seconds.

The odd thing is, if there is a problem with the GPU, it would normally STAY VGA (white LED in your case) should REMAIN lit up, and not step through.

You can see, it continues pass the VGA check, and lights up the BOOT (green) LED.

Then I am assuming the "POST Error" readout comes up on the little LCD screen on the rear I/O cover.

Quote

If an error is found, the critical component's LED stays lit up until the problem is solved.

It should stay lit up until the motherboard/system is powered down, rebooted, and/or the POST test is re-ran.

Yeah, that makes a bit more sense.
I'm going to hook it up to another monitor just to be 100% sure that I'm not a complete idiot.
I'm using a brand new acer x34p right now that I don't have any experience with yet. So, just for good measure, I'm going to try something else.
But I highliy doubt that I'll get an output. I'm basicly just hoping for a miracle :P ... and to have tried -everything- before I RMA the board / cpu.
Like I said, I've tried two different GPU's, but I have a third one I can try also.

BTW... the post screen says "loading vga bios" for a while when I boot the board with the quadro NVS card I have in it right now. I don't think it did that with the GTX 1060. And that screen stays on for a little while. I guess that might be the cause of the white led staying lit for a while.

Hear ye, hear ye!
I'm a bloody idiot!

-rascal- you where right.
It posts.
A bloody bad coonnection on a DP cable was the issue all along.
I feel more stupid than you can imagine right now.

Move along, nothing to see here.

So.

It was a bad psu ... AND bad DP connection.

Pc posted just fine with another PSU, I just couldn't see it because of the bad connection.

Max noob and really annoying. 🤣🥳

The rig runs just fine now. Waiting for a RTX 3080 :)

Wow that’s crazy. Well I’m glad you figured out what wrong
