Hello All,

I have a rather dumb question to ask but I may aswell ask it since ive been struggling with GPU usage recently. If I were to plug in a powercord from the PSU to the GPU (RTX 2070 Super) and the cord has an 8 pin and a 6 pin connector and I connect both to the card, is it getting enough wattage/voltage or do I need to run a second wire for the 8 pin and keep the 6 pin on a seperate wire. Sorry if that doesnt make sense, I can take pics or try to clarify if that doesnt make sense.

Specs -

i7-7700k

RTX 2070 Super

Asus z170-ws

Seasonic 750w 80+bronze

16gb of 2133mhz G.Skill

If I understood the question correctly, you are wondering if there will be a difference if you use a cable with both an 8 pin and a 6 pin connector on one cable, vs using separate cables for the 8pin and the 6pin, correct me if I am wrong. If that is the question, there shouldn't be a noticeable difference, but you can try anyway to see if there will be a difference, it won't hurt to try.

Usually, it doesn't matter. The PCI Forum rates 6- and 8-pins to much less than their actual capacity, so while that 6+8pin is rated at like 225W total, the physical connectors can deliver more like 500-600W, and the 8-pin modular connector at the power supply end is typically around 400W.

Yes, I was wondering if using one wire which has both an 8pin and 6pin connector would be different to using 2 wires, one for the 8 pin and one for the 6 pin. If you believe there will be a difference then I will try it

So if I understand you correctly it wouldnt make a difference using one wire with both 8 pin and 6 pin in series compared to two wires, one with 8 pin and one with 6 pin

Sorry I meant to type there shouldn't be a difference, autocorrect must have changed it.
