When I am just browsing or doing some normal stuff on my PC, it freezes(the cursor doesn't move but the audio will still be playing) for a second or two and then the CPU fan ramps up. When this happens, Realtek Audio Manager closes and audio starts playing through the speakers instead of playing through my headphones. What is the reason behind this?

I'm not sure but you should always try to uninstall and reinstall the audio drivers.

I had a similar audio problem long ago on a dell latitude laptop after upgrading from win 7 to win 10. In my case I tried reinstalling the drivers and also tried older drivers.

Sadly, in my case I think windows did something stupid during the upgrade process and after a clean install directly to windows 10 and installing drivers everything was fine.

Hope this information  can be of some help

When I tried new realtek drivers, it would not recognize my headphones. So I had to go back.

Then my only remaining help is for you to try and reinstall windows. Someone else might know more troubleshooting steps but i do not. Sry
