A friend of mine is looking for a good IPS monitor, and another friend has an Asus MX239H. I've seen it and it looks pretty good, but only has HDMI and the price is lower than a lot of the IPS monitors on the market. Is it just good value, or are there issues with it that I would need to know about before recommending it?

Thanks, FizzyFantom

I chose the dell S2340M over it because it was $90 cheaper at the time.

Does it have a lesser image quality than other IPS monitors?

no but as its glossy it reflects everything, its basically a mirror, thats nice for some people but i dont like it at all. Furthermore its the mother of all glare, if you have a light in your room or a window then dont get the glossy panels, if you live in blackness then glossy is great for you. I dont think im bias considering ive used a glossy panel for nearly a year before my father gave it to my grandfather because i wanted a 27inch panel.

Ok, thanks. Just in case I need a non-glossy alternative could anyone recommend a good matte IPS monitor (23-24", 1920x1080) around that price?

This is a godly monitor in my opinion, the bang for buck is amazing

My father currently uses it and i get jealous, its ips of course and it doesnt use a lot of energy so polar bears dont have to learn to swim.

On the other hand you can get this, which is a fucking amazing panel, it doesnt have the best features of any 4k monitor but it has 95% of the features available at 1/3 of the price, just tell your parents before you sell the house.

It's the same price as the Asus monitor, and I think it will be great for my friend. Just out of interest how thick is the bezel?

Awesome, thank you for your help, I think this is a good choice for my friend :)

Just one more silly question. Does the Dell monitor ship with a DVI cable?

Edit: Don't worry, I watched a (UK) unboxing video and it had a DVI cable in the box. Thank you very much none the less :D
