I currently have system with these specs

CPU: I5 8600K

GPU: 1050 Ti

MOBO: MSI B360 PRO VDH

RAM: Gskill Aegis 2x4gb 2400mhz

PSU: SilentumPC vero v2 500w

120GB SSD

1tb hdd

A cheap case

I am planing on getting a z370i gaming and going itx. ITX  will allow me to keep my old system when I decide to get back to a regular sized case. I am also planning to get a ampere card with performance equal to 2070 Super. Would that be wise or am I better of upgrading something else?

I'd upgrade CPU and Mobo (Ryzen 5 3600 + B450 Tomahawk Max) first, and definitely the PSU, I haven't heard of that brand (if it's good and you checked PSU tier list for it, then keep it obviously). RAM could also use an upgrade but its probably ok to start.

Your plan for GPU seems good

Current System: Ryzen 7 3700X, Noctua NH L12 Ghost S1 Edition, 32GB DDR4 @ 3200MHz, MAG B550i Gaming Edge, 1TB WD SN550 NVME, SF750, RTX 3080 Founders Edition, Louqe Ghost S1

For gaming performance, I would make getting 16GB of ram and a better GPU  a priority. Upgrading to ampere sounds like a good idea. ITX probably isnt the best as far as price to performance, but if you want the small form factor, go for it I guess.

The 8600K is almost as good as the 3600, and the Tomahawk Max isn't a ITX board.

budget? go for 16 gigs. and either get an 8700/k or just move to a different platform. or wait for zen 3 and decide if you want to move to a different platform or not.

The 3600 is better, but the main bottleneck is the 1050Ti. Spending more money on a CPU doesn't make sense if your GPU is holding you back.

I'm not arguing there, I just pointed out that the 8600K is in the same tier as a 3500 😉

Just keep what you have and get a new GPU.

You aren't going to get enough noticeable gains in gaming with any CPU upgrade, especially if you're slogging around with a 1050 ti, or even a 2070 Super level.

Only upgrade if you are doing non gaming tasks, IMO. It's a total waste.
