So just switched up from a 8700k build to the long awaited 9700k build ive been wanting. Took the other motherboard and cpu out, switched everything around, plug my 120mm Kraken (idk which one it is) to the AIO_Pump header, go to boot up and the pump is loud as hell(video posted below). I’ve never heard it with my old build at all. Secondly the CPU temps just keep rising and rising like no ones business! It’ll hit 80 in BIOS and keep going! So:

A) what’s going on here. And

B) how can I fix this?

Thank you all for your quick responses!

Is the CPU block seated correctly ? Did you replace the thermal paste ?

Try to clean the old thermal paste, apply a new one, then reseat the cooler.

What header did you use on the old system? The cpu fan header? Try that one instead maybe.

Almost Sounds like the system doesn't have liquid in it...

The old board was a Strix z270f gaming. It had a AIo_Pump header as well so I believe I used that? I’m not for sure honestly. I might of plugged it into a CPU_Fan header as well. And all I did was swap the motherboard out and everything. The AIO was working just fine before.

I believe I seated it right as I’ve never had a problem with that before, and I made sure to clean off the old thermal paste and apply new paste. I tightened down on the four screws till they were tight, so idk how else it could be seated

Cleaned off thermal paste, applied more, reseated AIO pump on top, screwed it’s down, still loud, still reaching 90+ on BIOS, and when feeling it, i do feel vibrations.

Also for the comment, I tried the CPU_Fan pin also just now and same noise but softer than cranked up

Sounds almost like it's running dry or partly so, or is that me?
Do you have another cooler lying around by any chance?

I'm not sure if it'll fix anything, but maybe try installing your rad the other way around, I heard that the tubes at the top may be bad for the pump in the long run as air pockets won't stay in the rad, but reach the pump too. But I honestly have no idea if it'll help any, just an idea..

Like I said previously, idk what happened because all I did was switch the board and cpu out. Just moved the pump to the side while I was doing that.

Do you have the old board and cpu still there? If so, you could see if it's a CPU/Board thing or a cooler problem, just plug it into a header there and see if it sounds like that and ramps up like that.

I have a new AIO coming in tomorrow, a triple rad. So I’ll try that first, and if that doesn’t fix the issue, it’s obviously the board and/or cpu. Because I rather do the little change out before a longer change out again
