I have recently noticed a few types of slow downs relating GUI and files in my Windows machine.

I noticed it in the input devices first.

My mouse's scrolling was stuttering and bad, but that might just be the mouse.

I then also tested clicking on a file in file explorer than pressing the down error with the shift press, and I also had slow downs from this new keyboard.

After an update for windows and a reset it seems to improve.

But when I drag to select with the mouse, it seems like there is a slow down when a new files gets into the selection rectangle.

The free scroll issue might have been solved after a reset/update. But the file selection, either with a mouse or with a keyboard seems to be a bit slow.

Either windows changed File Explorer, or there could be some sort of app that affect the file explorer?

Do you have any idea what is the issue?

I scanned for viruses, and also looked at computer's health performance. There doesn't seem to be an issue.

I also tried to close all the apps running, I could think of.

No effect.

If you have a wireless mouse, ensure that the receiver is not connected to a USB hub. An issue with hubs is that if you have another device consuming a lot of power, other devices connected to it may lack power to operate properly. A simple USB flash drive or Ethernet adapter under load is enough to cause issue. A powered one (assuming it works) helps correct this problem. Just something to keep in mind.

Interference is also another possibility, and range. Of course bandwidth load is also another possibility causing strange behaviour and latency issues.

Another thing to keep in mind, but this is usually for slow/old systems, is that USB controller doesn't have it own processor. It uses the system CPU. If the CPU is under heavy load, USB performance will be affected as well
