Other options than windows 8.1 media center for TV tuner

Hi There

just did a new build and finally got myself to 8.1. ( install windows 7 premium, then upgrade to 8.0 pro and install 100+updates , finally download and install 8.1). Now I want to install media center and MS WANTS money.   I have a MS remote and was happy with windows 7 media centre until the motherboard cratered, I would prefer to stay with Media center and use it's programming guide and tuner. 

 

But the thought of paying more money for a feature I already had irks me to the point I am wondering what other options are out there for tuning software. I have a Hauppage USB tuner stick.

I don't know if this works with all, but I use AVerTV 3D

That Nextpvr looks interesting and I have tried AverTV but that was a while ago so I will look at it too.  Thanks nukem and ANUPLUCIFERGAMER.

yeah i find nextpvr one of the best, and its free! i actually use it through XBMC as a plugin.
