I was playing "Rust" for a long stretch of time, and i started to get this horrible lag where i could not do a single thing.

I alt tabbed out, and closed rust, and my skype connection was really buggy, scratchy, and not exactly right.

I closed skype; it stopped, and i checked my cpu temp. It reached 77 degrees! [on "core temp"]

I just built this computer again from an RMA, but i only RMAed my board, and video card.

Specs:

Cooler master haf922 {added side fan-fan blowing in}

CPU I5-3570k {stock cooler]

msi gtx 660 ti

Good cpu thermal compound.

Idling around 44 degrees core one 38 degrees core four.

For a stock cooler, that's fine

It probably lags, because of your graphics card, not your processor. You should check the temps on you GPU, because it is most likely that it is the thing causing the problems.

PS: Processor frequency starts to throttle when the processor reaches 95-100C.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 - 3900x @ 4.4GHz with a Custom Loop | MBO: ASUS Crosshair VI Extreme | RAM: 4x4GB Apacer 2666MHz overclocked to 3933MHz with OCZ Reaper HPC Heatsinks | GPU: PowerColor Red Devil 6900XT | SSDs: Intel 660P 512GB SSD and Intel 660P 1TB SSD | HDD: 2x WD Black 6TB and Seagate Backup Plus 8TB External Drive | PSU: Corsair RM1000i | Case: Cooler Master C700P Black Edition | Build Log: here

I know in a lot of games, after a long time, no matter what, the game gets unstable. Seeing as rust is pre-release this doesn't surprise me

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X - CPU Cooler: Deepcool Castle 240EX - Motherboard: MSI B450 GAMING PRO CARBON AC

RAM: 2 x 8GB Corsair Vengeance Pro RBG 3200MHz - GPU: MSI RTX 3080 GAMING X TRIO

Why does the pick show that the max was 55C not 77C on core temp? If you took the pick after it is useless. Also why does CPU-Z show you have a i7 860. EDIT: Lol you were on the front page, not actually using it, my bad.

Also The cooler is bad, and the game unstable, the temps are not critical either.

Also i apologize if my tone seems unfriendly.

Spoiler

Case Bitfenix Ghost, Mobo Asus Maximus VIII Ranger, CPU i7 6700K @4.2 Ghz cooled by Arctic cooling Freezer i30, (barely). GPU Nvidia GTX 970 Gigabyte G1 @1519Mhz core, RAM 16Gb Crucial Ballistix CL16 @2400Mhz. SSD 128GB Sandisk Ultra Plus as my OS drive. HDD's  1TB  Seagate ST31000524AS its OEM, 3TB Seagate Barracuda, 2x 500GB WDC Blue (RAID 0)

If it isn't working absolutely perfectly, according to all your assumptions, it is broken.
