Hi,

I'm building my first system and have a quick question. I have an asus rog strix b360-h motherboard and need to update BIOS to have it work with my core i7-9700.

So I was thonking if it would work if I just got myself a cheap cpu that fits the socket like a pentium gold g5420 just to boot the system and update the BIOS.

Or if i need an actual 8th gen cpu to even get it to run. Thanks in advance

Get a chip that's supported by the board out of the box and update it.
