Single Channel 8GB 1333mhz enough for streaming?

I am helping a friend, specs are A8 9600 with NVidia GTX 660 and using a single channel 8GB 1333mhz, planning to stream mobile games so considering this, a Mirroring software will be opened + chrome and an AlertBox will be active in the OBS software. Now, we've tried a couple of test streams with this settings output resolution: 1280x720, FPS@30, Downscale filter: Bilinear, Encoder: x264, Bitrate: 2000, Keyframe interval: 2, CPU usage: very high, internet connection is good but still stream hiccups are all over the place.. is upgrading RAM to 16GB 2666mhz the solution to this? or will a single 8GB 2666mhz be enough to rid of some stream hiccups?

depends on the game... a esports title at low quality should be fine. anything more demanding than that could lead to alot of problems

PC specs:

Ryzen 9 3900X overclocked to 4.3-4.4 GHz

You have components that might have more effect on your gaming/streaming than single channel ram. Have you monitored what actually is maxing out? My bet is on CPU being maxed out.

CPU usage: very high

what is your encoder preset? slower = more cpu usage

we tracked CPU usage under OBS using upto 46% should we try the GPU encoder instead?

i forgot if the 660 has nvenc, but if it does then you can try that

what's the internet speed like? is it stable at 2Mbit?

We tried a different computer that's also using an 8GB of RAM with the same settings the only difference is this other PC is using dual channels of 4GB 1600mhz (2x4GB 1600mhz) and we noticed that it performs a bit better with the dual channel.

650Ti has NVENC, 660 should as well :)

Dual channel will help a little bit, however upgrading the CPU & using that to encode would be money well spent; I take it mobile LoL isn't the most intensive on the GPU so you could skate by with that GTX660 if that's all you plan to stream. Keep in mind moving to a new CPU (especially a new platform) means DDR4; so then you have to buy new memory regardless & I'd make sure it's dual channel.

It's probably worth upgrading the CPU & Memory all at the same time, value wise it'll be better in the long run.

However don't let that hold you back from buying another stick of memory (make sure it's the same model!) & plopping that in, once you can upgrade further; sell it & get part of that initial investment right back!

Hopefully this kinda helps out, it's my take on this

When the PC is acting up haunted,

who ya gonna call?
"Monotone voice" : A local computer store.

*Terrible joke I know*
