Would love some advice concerning which cpu to use in an upcoming build paired with a 2070 super. Hoping to play good frame rates at 1440p - 165 frames at low settings. At least 70ish on high settings, on less competitive games. Currently debating the 10600k and 10700k however am unsure whether the extra cost is worth it for the extra cores as i don't do much on my pc other than gaming. Or whether i should drop a generation and go for an 7900k as z390 motherboards are a fair bit cheaper than z490. I also thought that intel is probably best as most my activities are more single threaded tasks, unless there are some cheaper, better AMD options?. Any other advice concerning 16 or 32 GB, and whats optimal price to performance in terms of RAM speeds that these cpus and motherboards can handle. Any advice would be great thanks.

The 10600K is the best gaming chip out at the moment (when factoring in price), but at 1440p a 3700X/3600 will most likely perform very similarly in most cases. Going with Z390 on the other hand would be a waste of money.

16GB is plenty for gaming. The cheapest 3600MHz CL16 dual-channel kit you can find should do, if you just want to enable XMP and forget about it.
