Can you charge your phone with the Thunderbolt 3 port on your laptop

Alright this is a niche type of thing but might help someone later, so i got a razer blade 15 which uses 230W power brick right, and I use duet display on my laptop, which oddly enough charges my ipad air (with lightning to usb-c) but i want to know if that thunderbolt 3 port can also charge my iPad Pro which uses 18w or will it damage either device.

USB-C is designed so that "if it fits, it's safe". 

 

Might or might not work as intended, but won't damage anything. You can plug 4 chargers to your laptop if you feel like it (and have 4 USB-C ports).

 

Of course it will charge the device if the device is happy to charge with what power the port is capable of sourcing.

Yes, you can.

Though if your phone supports some kind of quick charge, it won't do it....just regular slow charging though.

It's rated at max 230W, but will only provide however much the device requests.

 

As @Kilrah mentioned, USB-C is type flexible, too.

 

I've got a Lenovo ThinkPad T480 laptop, and I even use the laptop's USB-C wall charger to charge my phone / bluetooth headphones on the rare occasion.

And I do the opposite, my Dell laptop has a 60W charger, my phone has a 55W one that is a bit smaller. The phone charges from the laptop's charger but at slow speed because stupid proprietary fast charge thing, it'll only charge fast from its own charger. But the laptop is happy to charge at full speed from the phone charger, so as a result I can only carry the smaller phone charger with me and charge both devices fast.
