Is there a particular reason you want to do this? Personally I use the keyboard shortcuts all the time, so this would be a pain.

When I try to run 'gpedit.msc' I get the following message:

Windows cannot find 'gpedit.msc'. Make sure you've typed the name correctly, then try again.

you're not putting the quotes in the box are you?

Try typing mmc in the run box

then click file add/remove snap in

highlight Group Policy Object... click add

select finish, then hit ok.

then expand Local Computer Policy and continue from "under User Configuration..."

I'm not putting the quotes in

There isn't a 'Group Policy Object', for me at least.

gpedit.msc or the Local Group Policy Editor if you prefer, is only available in the Pro version of Windows. So:

-> Windows XP Professional

-> Windows Vista Business and up

-> Windows 7 Professional and up

-> Windows 8 Pro and up.

Huh, This had never even occurred to me. Although I suppose it makes sense since it is for server side control over a client. (This is handy to know, thanks(This must mean I've always had pro versions of windows))

Sorry man, I didn't realise ^ ^ ^ ^ I'm pretty sure there is a way to do it with the registry, I have to go to work now so (so long as I don't forget) I'll have a look after work.

select Explorer

In the right hand pane right click and select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value

Name it "NoWinKeys"
