Downgrading OS

Hey guys, I want to get an ssd for my laptop and also, I want to install windows 7 on it. I'll be using the ssd and my current hdd together which has windows 8.1 on it, do I need to format my hard drive or can I just leave windows 8.1 there?

You don't need to but if you boot up a system with two copies of Windows installed on the various drives you'll have to choose which one you want to boot during the start up. So yeah, you can leave 8.1 on there.

One more question, if I keep my hard drive, I don't need to reinstall my drivers right?
