I mean it won't explode.

It has the proper protections after all.

It is a group reg unit and it's subpart.

What parts are you going with?

The cx550/450 are way better and heck even the cv650 is on a different platform.

Specs, budget, location? US power supply prices are a mess right now, but other places have decent deals. The UK for example has really cheap, very decent Kolink Classic units. Independent reg starting at like 30 gbp

I WISH I could get those kolinks... I had a kolink core 600w on my radar and when i ordered my parts last night, the PSU was the last tab, and you best believe everything but like the <450w had sold out... I'm talking about UK here. If you do have somewhere I could get a 500w+, any 80 plus rating, for sub-£50, please let me know. This was my first build, I'd already planned all my parts out before getting that PSU swiped from me >:0 Thanks anyways, dude ❤️

Efficiency isn't quality. And it really never was.

nope. they're groupregs See the source image

It is but human, to err, to buy a PSU, akin to dirt,

but fret not, young Padawan, for we will tell you,

what will become, of that, which you have earned

Isn't that photo of the older Kolink 500M? I meant the newer ones, the Kl-v2 units, like this one -

The PSU's highly efficient circuit design features independent DC-to-DC converters for the 3.3V and 5V outputs, ensuring extremely precise voltage regulation.

I figured this was why they were B-tier on our forum list.

The funny thing is that I couldn't find a single shot of the new classic power unit's internals. I'd still advise going with the CX unit, as they're known to be worth the while, and the one I linked retails for £63-65

Sorry, could you explain why it isn't a good PSU

The W1 is one of the worst units on the market. Heck Getting a VS (which is also a group reg) will be a better bet

Essentially, in a groupreg, the voltage on all rails (+12V, +5, +3.3, etc) is regulated based on the total load on each rail, causing to to overcompensate on the +12v rail, causing it to fall outside the +- 5% voltage fluctuation standard, and +3.3V rails may also experience voltage drops during cross-load situations.

So I now find out I have two 'Tier E' PSU's in both PC's a EVGA 500W ATX and a Corsair VS550 in the gaming, oh well it's excuse to install modular in both. 🤪

ah, but is it an older VS unit, with the orange label? if so, yes, it's a good excuse to upgrade

I been using a EVGA 500 80+ 500W, PSU for little under a year. https://www.novatech.co.uk/

EVGA 500 80+ 500W £52.70

I don't recall hearing the name novatech before, but they deliver to me, a nice change compared to currys, and are actually in stock, compared to amazon. Thank you so, so much!

that's... not a good unit too. Also a groupreg, afaik

Ah- how does CoolerMaster's MWE550 Bronze seem? the 600+ units are meant to be B, and the <500 units are meant to be C (i believe. i have no clue with anything here, sorry), so where does that put this guy?
