Yeah i didnt want to go cheap on the motherboard

But I just want to know how to update the bios and get it to work w/ the cpu

Do I have to just flash it or get a new cpu that works with the old bios version and update it then return it.

The thing is it is a "cheap" motherboard, when the board came out it was $100(it was nicer than most B360s but not over $150 nice), it's a budget board and since it's not manufactured anymore it's gone up in price for brand new, meaning if you paid $150 or more for it you drastically over payed. The nice boards for 8th and 9th gen are the Z series, so Z370 and Z390. The cheaper budget boards are B360 and B365 for 8th and 9th gen, so you payed however much you payed for a budget board. A nice Z390 is like $180 and it would be much better than the B360-G.

If you can still return the motherboard you should. Personally I would return the B360-G and use the refund to buy a Z390 motherboard since you want a nice board over trying to use it, if you paid over the MSRP of $100 you done messed up.

If you can't return it you have two options. You can order an 8th gen CPU to update the bios and then return the CPU or you can take it into a computer shop and see if they can do it for you. The B360-G does not have a bios flash option built in. RETURN the board for a refund if you still can before trying to use it.

Just built a new pc w/ my dad and there is no display. This is a new build and it doesn't buzz like the error noises or anything. It has never booted before.

(For anyone asking yes I have checked that the cable is plugged in, yes I have checked that the gpu is in properly and yes i have turned the pc on and off again.)

Specs:

i3 9100f

gt 730 (tried this on a different pc and it worked)

1x Corsair 8 GB ram 3000mhz cmk8gx4m1d3000c16 (ik this isnt supported by the mobo but I didnt know that when I bought it) and (no i did not waste money because i knew that the i3 9100f only supports 2400mhz but it was the same price as a 3000mgzso I bought it)

(spare ram that I tried - 2x crucial 8gb 2133mhz ct8g4dfd8213.16fa1)

850w psu (yes ik it is too much)

1tb hdd

240 sad

b360-g mobo w/ no bios update

corsair carbide spec delta rgb case (idk if this is helpful)

I'm pretty sure that it is the cpu that is causing this because  I need to update the bios for it to be compatible but I have refunded the 8gb corsair ram (see above) and bought a 2x 4gb corsair ram instead just in case.

Thanks

Seems you already know your problem. Was the motherboard bought new or is it something you already had? I hope it wasn't bought new, especially for the prices I'm seeing it listed for...

Ok thanks for your help I'm 75% sure that I can still return it.

I think I'm just going to call my local pc repair shop and ask them if they can update my bios for me

Check to see if you can return it first. If you payed over $200 for it that's money you could have put elsewhere in the system like a better GPU or more ram.

Paying a repair shop to update the bios and then use that board is a massive waste of money. If you can't return it so be it. But if you can, DO NOT USE IT. Return it and put the money towards something else, depending on how much you paid for it, that's $100 extra.
