It's lucky you are 'Tech Savvy'. This could of happened to someone that wasn't tech savvy and they could have been scammed, such a shame.

This is not legal they are trying to steal you information (bank etc.) I use to get these calls until I said that trying to steal others personal information is a federal offence and is punishable by imprisonment.

They called me a while back but I had already known about the scam and kept them on the phone for close to a half hour.

I played dumb and was really willing to let them clean my sons computer. Unfortunately it was around supper time and had to go eat. The wife and kids thought I was mean lol. Interestingly enough they don't call back, I kinda miss chatting with them.

I do the same with all this type of phone calls, duct cleaning and, vacation giveaway etc... It's stress relief :)

Lately i've been getting a lot of telemarketers phoning me (95% are east indian for some reason) but i tell them i'm not interested and hang up. But this morning at 7:00 am i got a rude awakening by some east indian guy that he phoned my number repeatedly telling me that my computer was infected by a virus and it will soon break unless i follow his step by step instructions asap (hint hint he's going to tell me a website that he gets paid to advertise then i will have to sign or for some "free" anti virus program so long as i give him all my credit card info) When i asked how he knows my computer is infected he said he was contacted by microsoft and that each time my computer is connected to the internet (which is 100% of the time) virus's are getting through. I then asked if he worked for microsoft and he said yes. He continued trying to rush the process pure pressuring me into falling for this horse sh*t scam. Oh and i almost forgot! Did you know the main source of virus's is from the internet? He repeated that several times i'm so glad i know now! It's weird because i thought before the ONLY way to get a virus was from the internet. Silly me!

Well internet is not the only way if somebody plugs an infected usb in your system its possible to get a virus

Hilarious, he should have done something like a mlp background or porn/gore, would have been great to see then cope with that.

Also try to be as dumb as possible, it's great to see them struggle.

Or install some obscure Linux distro in a vm and let them have a go, ha.

I love it when they call my house. I have so much fun with that. Also, if they start saying your Windows PC has a virus, go along with them but, when they tell you that they want you to go on a certain website or they want access to your PC, say that you have a Mac and not a Windows PC. They get so confused and then I hang up. Another funny thing to do is tell them to buy your product, say an Xbox 360, then you will buy theirs. They get so mad when you do that.

I agree, the only way to get back at them is by wasting their time and leave them empty handed by the end of day.
