put the 8-pin only or do I have to buy a psu that supports this type connector

You only need an 8 pin. The extra 4 pin is for heavy overclocking which with a normal water / air cooler you won't do

A single 8 pin can provide up to 384w of power ( or can even go above that if the cables can handle more amps ) and you won't reach that any time soon as a causal user.

So I was thinking about buying this motherboard from msi. It's the MSI MPG Z390 ( https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MPG-Z390-GAMING-EDGE-AC/ ). It has an 8+4-pin cpu power connector. I was wondering if it's enough power if I just put the 8-pin only or do I have to buy a psu that supports this type connector.
