Upgrade path

Budget (including currency): MYR

Country: Malaysia

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mostly gaming and some programming

This is my current PC right now:

https://pcpartpicker.com/b/krvWGX

and this is what i am planning to upgrade to:

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/gd23TC

1. I'm not quite sure on x570 or x550, because sometimes i can find bundles of cpu + x570 mobo cheaper than the x550 bundle. Though i think x570 is always the better option. Thoughts?

2. GPU side of things, on one hand 5700/5700xt is cheaper here which can be found below RM2k for PowerColor and RM2kish for Sapphire while an RTX 2070 can reach up to RM3k and above. but on the other hand 5700 although i heard good things about AMD team already patching up most of the issue, there are still chances that it will break.

3. i will be reusing the Hyperx 212, the same case and fans and hopefully PSU

now i'm getting a big concern on PSU side of things. Anybody technical/savvy enough regarding what PCPartPicker is saying:

https://imgur.com/a/jxqLe7n

thanks

First of all

Unless you absolutely need an upgrade now

I would say wait for zen 3 since it's tight around the corner

If your dead set on this build.

I would get a b550 aorus pro instead of the x570 aorus elite.

And if you want nvec/ dlss / rtx

Get a 2070 super.

If you don't care about them. Get a 5700xt as it's quite close to the 2070 super and is cheaper.

And I would get a better PSU

A tx550m or an MWE gold or an rm550x should be a whole lot better.

Very very very much this. If you can wait nvidia and amd are launching new gpu's starting august and amd is doing a ryzen refresh in september with zen 3 (ryzen 4000) in fall.

There are low-end x570 boards that are worse than decent B550 boards for the same price. If you're not in need of x570 features you can get much better roverall boards for the same price when looking at B550.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

oh btw the reason i go for the aorus elite pro wifi is because i need that wifi 6 BT 5 capabilities that's already built in it. I checked the b550 aorus pro elite doesn't have wifi but master one does.

why is it better to go for b550 over x570 btw?

well i guess i go 5700xt then, i don't care about RTX and only play at 1080p anyway

Cheaper

And the aorus has one of the better vrm solutions and you can just get a wifi card.

i already have a wifi card its just that i don't have bluetooth capabilites to use my headphone and controller.

perhaps i should go for B550 Master instead.

No, i don't want to buy a bluetooth stick, I tried it before and the sound does not sync with the video due to delay

That isn't a bluetooth sticks fault. Even built in cards can have that that is entirely up to what kinda headset you have as there is by default delay in any bluetooth below 5.0. If your headphones support aptx then you can avoid the issue and use a aptx compatible bluetooth dongle to avoid lag. If not then that is just how they will function forever with any sort of bt connection.

all of them missing a 4-pin Motherboard ATX power connector

You don't need the extra eps connector

As a single 8 pin eps can provide up to 384w of power and with a ryzen cpu

You won't even come close to that.
