Ok so I have 16gb (2x8) of corsair vengeance lpx 2133mhz ( I know it is slow but I was dumb when I bought it) . I want to upgrade my ram. Should I get another pack of what I have already or would it be enough of a performance boost to get something like this. Can i mix the two speeds? Yes. I am dumb. My motherboard is the z370 gaming pro carbon btw. Thanks in advance.

if you are just doing normal gaming, 16gb is fine. if you add the 3600mhz ram to the 2133mhz ram, assuming they do work together, it will tank the speeds, likely down to 2133 like the other set. but replacing your current 2133 with the 3600mhz would see a performance boost.

Can you mix 2 speed? yes, but it will operates to the slowest.

I sugget getting a 2400mhz and manually setting the speed to 2400 (overclocking the 2133).

Can I do that with bios? I was looking around and tried accessing the bios and just got a black screen (idek).?

yes, infact you can do it right now.

you access the bios by pressing DEL when the pc turns on.

find a option that says memory spd (auto) click on the auto and select the target speed.

i sugget 2400mhz to try.

if stable, you can continue using it, or if you dare bumping another level to 2666. selecting auto should bring it to normal.

Never really thought about it. How would I do so?

By adjusting the multiplier for the memory, I suggest looking it up on YouTube.

16 GB is fine for gaming and most other general computing. I went with 32 GB only because I'm a software developer and use things like Docker. Even then, I'm normally only using around 17-18 GB; 16 was just a little too low.

It would be a better investment to ditch the existing two sticks and simply get 16GB (2x8GB) 3600MHz CL16. That can be had for around $70-$100, depending on brand and frills (RGB, etc.) Going 32GB doesn't do anything for you unless you actually need it. If you're not using over 16GB, it's a complete and total waste of money to go higher. Even if you do need 32GB, it would still probably be better to just get a 2x16GB 3600MHz kit and ditch your current set. You can get that for around $150, which is still not bad.
