Hi pretty new here so i want to make my 1st build =D

my current was bought by cyberpower pc as i did not have time to build one

  • 3.5GHz Intel Core i7-3770K Quad-Core
  • 16GB of DDR3 RAM
  • 2TB 7200rpm HDD + 120GB SSD
  • nVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 Graphics
  • NZXT Switch 810 Gunmetal Full-Tower Case
  • windows 8

Budget & Location

$1500 maybe $2000 US

Aim and Monitors

4 monitors for nvidia 3d surround would like to play my games on high and if can be done ultimate settings, would like to do SLI and custom tubing (friend will be doing that) but could use help picking out parts

what i have already or will reuse for new build

  • 16GB of DDR3 RAM-
  • 2TB 7200rpm HDD + 120GB SSD
  • NZXT Switch 810 Gunmetal Full-Tower Case
  • corsair HX850watts power supply
  • red sleeves for power supply

going for a red and black theme

was thinking of buying

MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Extreme OC High Performance Triple CFX/ SLI Intel Motherboard

Intel Core i7-4770K Haswell 3.5GHz LGA 1150 84W Quad-Core Desktop Processor

maybe x2 EVGA gtx 780 3gb

water blocks for them also

now my question is should is Haswell worth it? or should i buy the ASUS Maximus V EXTREME LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Extended ATX Intel Motherboard and use my i7-3770K and overclock to 4.7 Ghz since i saw a tut on the ROC page?

and and all advice is most helpful

There's no point in 780 ti sli, it doesn't give any benefits over 780 SLI besides a bigger e-penis.  There's isn't enough vram for them to pull ahead in performance and actually shine like they could.  Anything 780 TI's can do, 780's can too. 780 SLI already has well over 80-140 FPS at 1080p, and 1440p.

@ShinryuVergil  If you want a new PC, buy a new PC.  Don't listen to people that tell you to wait when there's no guarantee on specs/ performance/ release date/ prices.

Do you make lots of videos, photoshop or livestream a lot? If you don't you may be better off with a 4670k.

Stuff:  i7 7700k @ (dat nibba succ) | ASRock Z170M OC Formula | G.Skill TridentZ 3600 c16 | EKWB 1080 @ 2100 mhz  |  Acer X34 Predator | R4 | EVGA 1000 P2 | 1080mm Radiator Custom Loop | HD800 + Audio-GD NFB-11 | 850 Evo 1TB | 840 Pro 256GB | 3TB WD Blue | 2TB Barracuda

What do you want to use it for? Gaming . Video editing. Server work? Regular schoolwork?

Alright well today i just went out and purchased a 2tb seagate hdd (unfortunately a little bigger than i wanted, wanted a 2.5 got a 3.5) and ive decided to get a 4670 intel i5 processor. Only problem is idk which motherboard to get with that and which graphics card (was thinking of getting a gtx 770 but i heard 760 was about the same thing only a little cheaper) and the mobo has to be a mini itx to fit my case

what do you want to use the mobo for. Gaming? Server work? 3d movies? Video editing.?and yes, some 760 cards can over clock to be over 770 speeds, but it's luck of the draw. It depends if you get a "good" over locking chip or not. Will you be over locking the CPU too? Don't hesitate if you need help

also don't use dongles, the USB wifi thing. They're slower than poop. Get an actual wifi card, or get it intergrated into your board. If you aren't going to be using wifi that heavily, such as video rendering, YouTube, the dongle thing SHOULD be fine. I'm thinking of getting a asus n66u router, but that's just what I want. Just an option. :)

If you don't have a fan plugged into the cpu fan header you will get this message. You may also get the message if the fan is spinning below the threshold set in the BIOS. If memory serves that threshold is 600 rpm on Asus boards. The warning can be turned off and the threshold lowered in the BIOS.
