8 months ago my PC fell over (i forgot i had my headset on lol) . I thought it was my mother board that were something wrong with but i have now upgraded mobo+cpu+ram so i guess it has nothing to do with the motherboard i tried the ports on the back and the front (3,5 mm), but with no luck, looking forward to getting help TYA (system specs: amd ryzen 3300x, Aorus b550 elite, Asus strix Gtx 950,corsair vs550, 16 gb corsair vengeance ram)

Try NOT connecting the HD audio cable for the front panel to the mobo, and using the back connectors.

By pulling on the cord you likely broke the case ports and if they're connected to the mobo they short something or similar and prevent the back ports from working too.

compare device manager with and without mic plugged in to see if it detects it.

Also i would use the back port.

Check that you have the motherboard drivers (for mic) installed, i think most use REALTEK or something.

Did you try what I said to confirm that's the problem?
