Hey all! I recently bought a wraith prism cpu fan and when I installed it and the accompanying cooler master software, I got the message "plug in your cm device to get started" when trying to use the RGB controller software for the wraith prism. I have tried everything and I am still getting this message. At first I had both USB and RGB header plugged in and saw that people were resolving this issue using just the USB, so I tried that and I cannot get rid of this message. I have 1 USB2.0 header available to me so I've been trying it on that one. Ive tried flipping the connector, using only one row of the pins on both sides and I'm running out of ideas. If anyone could help that would be awesome. I've currently got an Asus TUF B450 Pro Gaming motherboard if anyone wants to see the manual online. The USB header I have been trying is labelled #10 (USB34). Thanks in advance!

The question seems to be what “cm” is.  No clue myself.  You bought a wraith prism separately?  Never heard of that being done before.  There’s no rig data in the post so I don’t know what’s going on there.  Might be something, might not.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

Since the software is developed by cooler master So I had assumed “cm” is cooler master? I bought the wraith separately on amazon. The mobo is listed in the OP, here is the rest

Ryzen R5 3600

radeon rx 5600 mech

650w gold PSU.

the cooler is working perfectly fine, I just can not control the RGB as the software is not recognizing it for some reason. Here is the message I am getting.

That might be the problem. You do realize those pins are in order, and by plugging it in randomly you could break it?

I have done this twice before. When I got my R5 1600 a couple years ago, I also bought the Wraith Spire RGB separately and have been running it on my 1600. I just recently bought a 3600 and didn't want to use the stock cooler so I bought a Wraith prism separately. I have not installed it yet since I had to send back the 3600 due to bent and missing pins. So now I have to wait for it to come back but plan on installing it with the 3600.
