So today I replaced my thermal paste for the first time, I took a nap and I'm back. Been looking at my motherboard and trying to figure out why my PC isn't turning on. Everything from before is plugged into the properly labelled pin slots. My case (NZXT H500i) has a small power indicator in the back which is on. So I'm not sure what the issue can be here. I was thinking that maybe the case panel doesn't have power and that is why the button isn't working, but idk how that could be the case because the indicator is clearly on.

It worked before you replaced the paste? Try reseating the CPU in the socket.

Did you do anything else other than apply new thermal paste?

What motherboard is it? That seems unlikely since you would need to attach the FP buttons to the motherboard somehow.

I know it doesn't make much sense but I've never needed to use that section. I believe with my case the FP is powered by either the USB 3.1 or the HD audio. Look at the photo I sent of the case FP manual.

Yes, that connector that looks like an USB needs to be attached that K cable which then connects to those white pins.

It looks like thats the right one? Some further digging that F_PANEL cable can be connected to to the white strip without needing that K cable.

It will just fit over the left 5 pins

I'm confused, so I'd the one labelled USB on the left side and leave the USB 1.0 pin section empty?

When I was having troubles puting the cooler on, I went to take it off and I noticed that even with the lever down, the CPU came up with it... So idk if maybe the lever is not actually seating the CPU properly? There is no pressure either which is not normal from my experience and videos.

That means the CPU was not in correctly. You should not be able to pull the CPU out without pulling up the lever.

Check the CU for bent pins or something else when u reseat it.

Ok, I'll try again later in the morning. My patience of putting the cooler on today is beyond gone 😂😤

If I got a spec of thermal paste on a pin, would that have an effect? The other thing I'm thinking is, how would I get it off since the pins are poky and hard to get into.

That wouldnt be a problem perse. If thats the case, a tootbrush will help clean it.

Just be gentle, like gentle as if you are trying to make love to a bear hibernating :D

But again, since the CPU came loose with the cooler would indicate that you did not insert the CPU correctly in the socket, hence my bent pins remark.

You wouldnt be able to pull out the CPU if the lever is down and the CPU was in all the way.

K, I have 4 bent pins from my observation. Do I just go to YouTube now? 😂
